Cobblestone Press Question of the Week 3/24…

Here is this weeks question from the Cobblestone Press discussion group, asked by Leila Brown…

Question:

Are you a Cobblestone Press Diva?

And what do you think makes you so Divalicous?

My Answer:

Well, let me start off by saying that I think Cobblestone totally rocks!!!  I couldn’t be any more jazzed to be there.  But, me a diva, ermmmm not even close, lol!!  I actually sort of have this anti-diva thing going on.
Nothing gives me a good case of the heeby jeebies faster than someone having too much nice to say about me. Gushing compliments make me squirm and grind my teeth.  Praise of any kind sets my nerves on edge.  I constantly play down my successes, achievements, abilities, etc.  I am totally happy with everyone in the world thinking I am far less smart, less capable, and less talented than I really am.
That said, I do love to hear that people enjoy my books!! I am totally cool with my books being awesome, fabulous, and divalicious… just as long as no one gives me credit for it.  They write themselves afterall, I just type, lol!!
My inner diva wears big dark sunglasses, refuses to wash her hair, and dresses in baggy sweats and faded t-shirts.  Anyone attempting a makeover approach with extreme caution!!
Yes, yes, I know, no need to say it… I am in serious need of long term therapy, lol!!
Smiles….

Holy heck, where did the last week go???

Geesh, I hate nothing more than when it seems like an entire week has just evaporated away to nowhere!!  I sat down at the computer this morning, and couldn’t for the life of me figure out where all of the days had gone.  It’s not as if I haven’t got anything done, rather the opposite actually, it just seems like it was all one crazy long day strung together.  I guess that’s what happens when life is just too chaotic!

On the personal front, we decided that rather than messing with all of the hassles of selling our houses ourselves that we would list with a Realtor.  When we signed the papers to do that I suddenly felt so amazingly relieved.  All of the work is now on someone elses shoulders, yeeehaw!!!  So, now while we wait for the houses to sell, my sweetie and I get to drool and fawn over some amazing boats as we search for our next home.  (for anyone who hasn’t already heard, early this year we decided to trade in the keys for sails and become full time live aboard boaters)

My sweetie is still harboring secret fantasies for a diesel powered cabin cruiser, but with gas at such crazy prices I think he is starting to let that desire fade away, especially after spending the last few days checking out some totally awsome sailboats.  Nothing compares to a 100 year beautifully restored wood hull boat.  Is it wrong that a nice old boat can get me all hot and tingly, lol???  I can hardly wait until I get to finally go to sleep every night rocking on the waves!!

If anyone has a nice old boat they just have to get rid of (40′+), or are dying to buy a beautiful old historic Victorian sidehall house just outside New Orleans, don’t hesitate to think of me, lol!!!

On the work front, I have actually manged to get a good amount done this week as well.  Things are coming together beautifully with the Bought & Paid For antho.  I have received some fantastic submissions, and have already offered a couple contracts.  I finished the very last of my edits for all of my books coming out from Whispers (Dio Pantera series, and In The Heat Of Battle).  Also, I just found out that my Wicked story from Cobblestone will be released on July 25th…. yipeee!!  I even squeezed in some time to actually write.  My dragon shapeshifter novella has officially made the leap to a full length novel.  That means I have another 30k to write on it, but the good news is that it is just pouring out faster than I can type… woohoo!

Well, that about sums up my crazy week.  I better get back to work before something else comes up and pulls me away.

Later…

Inga

Book review – Naughty Nine by Anastasia Rabiyah

For all of you who enjoy your HOT sexy erotica mixed with a strong edge of fantasy, I would love to recommend to you Naughty Nine by Anastasia Rabiyah. This book was published by loveyoudivine (my publisher for Back To Sadie’s, Criminal Desire, & the upcoming antho I am editing, Bought & Paid For).

From the publisher…

“Naughty Nine explores the passions of myths ranging from the fair mermaid to the cry of the lone werewolf. Dare to enter the darkness, to pass through into the realms of fairy. Seek out forbidden passion in the arms of an unexpected lover.

Have you dreamed of a handsome werewolf in your garden? Perhaps a lost love lurks in your past and you always wondered why he never appeared to you in the daylight hours. Why did dragons demand a virgin sacrifice? Can a centaur love a human woman? What makes a male fairy’s wings sprout? Can music soothe a demon’s fiery soul? Naughty Nine allows you to peek into the other side of erotic romance. Ecstasy lurks in the jungles, among the tides and in the shadows where you least expect it. A collection of nine steamy, short, erotica tales of unlikely love and passion await you.”

Naughty Nine is an enchanting collection of short fantasy erotica!!!

I devoured this book in a single afternoon, and by the time the back cover closed Ms. Rabiyah had earned herself a brand new adoring fan.

The art of writing a complete and satisfying story in a very short number of pages is not one many authors manage as well as this author. Each of these nine stories, both erotic and romantic in tone, were complete and well crafted. The varying fantasy worlds that they were set in all just beg for further stories to be written for them.

I will eageraly await this authors next book, and am thrilled to share a publishing home with her!

(Inside Scoop)
I have invited Anastasia to write something for ‘Bought & Paid For’ and she has promised me a hot little novella with some sexy demon action..yummmy!)

Call For Submissions…..

Call For Submissions – Bought And Paid For
Trade Paperback release Fall/Winter 2008 from loveyoudivine publishing

I am pleased to announce an open call for submissions for the above anthology that I will be editing for loveyoudivine.

The theme of the anthology will be sex for money.  Give me your stories of high class call girls, corner hookers, courtesans, brothels, or any other angle that ties into the theme of paid companionship.  Stories must be erotic in content, but should also be more than just a single long sex scene with no deeper content or story line.  All sexual orientations and lifestyles are welcome, and encouraged.

I am looking for stories between 5-15k, or a collection of several shorter stories from a single author that meet that same word count.

Please submit stories as RTF attachments (attn. Inga Mahn) to submissions@loveyoudivine.com with “Bought & Paid For Submission” in the subject line.  Submissions will be accepted until May 15th or until such time that all slots have been filled, so submit early!

Authors selected for inclusion will receive 1 free copy of the book upon publication, and an equitable split of royalties.

Questions only (no submissions) may be sent to Inga @ lovebookwriter@yahoo.com.

Cobblestone Press Question of the Week…

Author Moira Reid asked the following question this week to all of the authors at Cobblestone, and I thought I would share my answer here as well as on the Cobblestone loop.

Question—

“When did you actually decide that yes, you were a writer? Not
when did you start writing, but when did you officially know that
yeah, this is it. I’m a writer.”

My answer—

Great question!!  In fact this is a topic that has been at the forefront of my mind a lot lately.
I have been writing forever… seriously, since I could pick up a pen I have been writing stories.  I started writing for publication about five years ago.  Since then I have been published by a dozen or so different publishers, and have made enough money to support my latte habit and still have a bit leftover (don’t snicker, you have NOOOOO idea how very many lattes I drink, lol).  I’ve been honored with more glowing reviews than I can count, and have even received a piece or two of honest to god fan mail, BUT I never considered myself to be a “real” writer.  I have always paid my bills selling my art, so that made me an artist, not a writer.
About three months ago, as I pondered the whole New Years resolution thing, it hit me that if I ever wanted to really BE a writer, than I had get with it and just do it!  So, as of January 1, 2008, I AM a writer.  I have quite selling my artwork, I have started writing projects for markets that can pay the bills, I am on the hunt for an agent that can help me with serious career building, and the really fun part…. we are in the process of selling our houses so that we can move aboard our boat full time.  Talk about my dream come true!!!  Within the next couple months I will spend my days floating around where ever the urge strikes, and writing to my hearts content.
Needless to say, I have the best hubby and family around, as they are with me 110% in this crazy new life plan.
Yippppeeeeeeee….. I AM a writer!!!

OMG, check out the cover for Last Wishes!!!!!!!

Last Wishes

I woke up this morning to the most lovely surprise!!  Sitting in my inbox was this delicious cover for “Last Wishes”, with artwork done by Dan Skinner.  OMG!!!!!  I couldn’t be more happy with it. I understand from Sable Grey at Cobblesone that all of the covers for the Wicked line will be in gray-scale, and I am dying to see more of them.

I don’t have a release date for Last Wishes yet, but I will share as soon as I hear.  Check back later for a blurb and excerpt of this “wicked” little story, coming soon from Cobblestone Press!
